El Departamento del Hábitat y Desarrollo Urbano, la Maestría en Proyectos y Edificación Sustentables y la Maestría en Ciudad y Espacio Público Sustentables convocan al:

2º CONGRESO INTERNACIONAL SOBRE SUSTENTABILIDAD EN LOS HÁBITATS
Innovación tecnológica y creatividad social en la construcción de ciudades resilientes

Este congreso internacional, se realiza en el marco de la celebración por los 60 años del ITESO y tendrá lugar del 5 al 7 de septiembre de 2018. Este evento se constituye como un espacio para el intercambio de experiencias entre lo académico y lo profesional a través de diversas actividades especializadas: ponencias, conferencias, mesas de debate, talleres, visitas técnicas guiadas y exposiciones donde se comparten innovaciones tecnológicas y experiencias exitosas de creatividad social en la construcción de ciudades resilientes.

Las temáticas estarán distribuidas en dos grandes ejes:

INNOVACIÓN TECNOLÓGICA: Como elemento necesario para el desarrollo y su aplicación en la sustentabilidad y resiliencia de las ciudades. Esta temática se asocia principalmente a experiencias y proyectos para la construcción de ciudades resilientes e incluyentes como pueden ser: prototipos de tecnología, materiales y sistemas constructivos sustentables, tecnologías y diseño de nuevos dispositivos para la gestión integral del agua, residuos y eficiencia energética.

CREATIVIDAD SOCIAL: El factor humano en el desarrollo de proyectos cuyo enfoque central sea la creatividad social como herramienta para la generación de propuestas que aporten a la resiliencia urbana, por ejemplo: propuestas de política pública, modelos de participación social en la gestión del territorio, propuestas de intervención en materia de resiliencia, nuevos esquemas de provisión de vivienda desde lo social, evaluación de experiencias de gobernanza, metodologías innovadoras de análisis y medición de los impactos sociales y ambientales de la urbanización, y experiencias de intervención y transformación del paisaje urbano en contextos patrimoniales y áreas naturales protegidas.

Durante el congreso se llevarán a cabo las siguientes actividades:

Conferencias magistrales impartidas por reconocidos especialistas en el tema de sustentabilidad, tanto nacionales como internacionales.
Debates con especialistas, empresas y organizaciones no gubernamentales.
Talleres impartidos por reconocidos profesionales en el campo.

Se invita a académicos y estudiantes, innovadores, emprendedores y tomadores de decisiones preocupados por la sustentabilidad a participar en este congreso y compartir sus experiencias en los espacios siguientes:

Ponencias estructuradas en los dos grandes ámbitos del congreso con modalidad presencial y en formato poster.
Exposición de tecnólogos, materiales y proveedores de servicios asociados a la construcción sustentable del hábitat.

El Congreso está dirigido principalmente a los integrantes de los siguientes sectores:

Sector privado:

Profesionistas de la ciudad que buscan enriquecer su práctica con experiencias, estrategias y técnicas en pro de la sustentabilidad.
Miembros del sector empresarial que oferten tecnología o servicios innovadores en el ámbito de la sustentabilidad en el hábitat.
Constructores, desarrolladores urbanos y tecnólogos que busquen ofrecer soluciones innovadoras.

Sector público:

Organismos encargados de fondos para financiar propuestas tecnológicas y sociales orientadas a la sustentabilidad.
Funcionarios en busca de espacios para discutir estrategias y encontrar soluciones creativas para la mejor gestión de la ciudad.

Sector social:

Asociaciones civiles, organizaciones comunitarias, colectivos, redes ciudadanas, organismos nacionales e internacionales con proyectos en los diferentes ámbitos de la sustentabilidad y resiliencia urbana.

Sector académico:

Profesores, investigadores y estudiantes de Instituciones de Educación Superior interesados en actualizar sus competencias y conocimientos, y que busquen aliados para implementar proyectos en los diferentes ámbitos de la sustentabilidad.

PRODUCTOS ACÁDEMICOS

Como producto de este Congreso, se publicará un libro en formato impreso y en versión digital. Para efectos de publicación de las ponencias en extenso, el ITESO y el Comité Científico del Congreso Internacional sobre Sustentabilidad en los Hábitats, seleccionará los mejores trabajos, que serán publicados siempre y cuando hayan cubierto la cuota de inscripción y cargado en el sistema del congreso la carta de cesión de derechos correspondiente para la publicación firmada por los participantes.

Fundación Jose Cuervo en conjunto con los Posgrados de Sustentabilidad del Departamento del Hábitat y Desarrollo Urbano del ITESO, en el marco del 2º. Congreso Internacional sobre Sustentabilidad en los Hábitats,

Convocan al:

1er. Concurso internacional para el proyecto conceptual de vivienda social sustentable, con materiales reciclados de la cadena productiva agave-tequila y materiales locales.

Se convoca a los profesionales nacionales e internacionales del hábitat, estudiantes de arquitectura, ingeniería civil, diseño y áreas afines, para el diseño de una vivienda social sustentable mediante la aplicación los saberes constructivos de las culturas locales, de familias en situación vulnerable en la comunidad de Tequila, Jalisco, México, que forma parte del Paisaje Agavero, reconocido en 2006 como Patrimonio Mundial de la UNESCO.

Actualmente en esta región del Paisaje Agavero, y producto de la cadena productiva agave-tequila, se desaprovecha una gran cantidad de materiales que pueden ser reutilizados de manera innovadora en el diseño y construcción de vivienda social en combinación con elementos de arquitectura tradicional local. Para ello se pretende aprovechar, reutilizar y reciclar insumos del proceso de fabricación del tequila y materiales locales como:

Madera de las barricas de Roble Americano,
Fibra del agave o bagazo,
Vidrio de las botellas de tequila que ya no se utilizan en los centros de consumo,
Piedras de obsidiana que es una piedra volcánica de la región,
Piedras de ópalo,
Ladrillo de tierra de la región con fibra de agave.

Para la inscripción al concurso se deberá enviar un correo electrónico a la cuenta: consustentabilidad@iteso.mx indicando en el cuerpo del mensaje: Solicitud_INSCRIPCION_CONCURSOCUERVO-ITESO y en el mensaje deberá solicitar su clave de participación, integrando el nombre del equipo, el nombre de los integrantes, la procedencia y datos de contacto incluyendo correo electrónico y número telefónico. Con esta solicitud se le devolverá una clave de registro que deberá ser integrada como identificador de su propuesta junto con el nombre del equipo.

Cada equipo que se inscriba recibirá su clave de participación y una carpeta informativa que incluye: las especificaciones de los materiales de reciclaje a aprovechar como parte del sistema constructivo, así como especificaciones del sitio donde se plantea diseñar la vivienda social sustentable e información de normativas y reglamentos a tomar en cuenta.

La premiación se llevará a cabo el día 6 de septiembre de 2018 a las 8:00 pm en la Casa ITESO Clavigero, (Calle José Guadalupe Zuno Hernández 2083, Colonia Obrera, 44140 Guadalajara, Jalisco) en el marco del 2º Congreso Internacional de Sustentabilidad de los Hábitats.

En el evento de premiación estarán expuestas las láminas de todos los equipos participantes.

El jurado calificador será determinado por el Comité Organizador del 2º, Congreso Internacional de Sustentabilidad de los Hábitats, en conjunto con la Fundación Jose Cuervo.

Cualquier asunto no previsto en esta convocatoria, será resuelto por el Comité Organizador del Concurso y su decisión será inapelable.

OBJETIVOS:

Diseñar un proyecto conceptual de vivienda social sustentable que sea estética, cómoda, segura y que responda a las normativas locales, reutilizando materiales del proceso de fabricación del tequila y materiales locales, haciendo especial énfasis en ofrecer soluciones de vivienda a grupos marginados de la región del Paisaje Agavero. La propuesta deberá ser presentada a nivel conceptual, definiendo las posibilidades de construcción por etapas, la consideración económica del posible costo de construcción y estableciendo la viabilidad constructiva para la autoconstrucción.

CRITERIOS DE EVALUACIÓN

Los trabajos serán evaluados con base en los siguientes criterios (sin orden de importancia).

Funcionalidad. Uso eficiente del espacio y los materiales de reciclaje especificados en combinación con materiales tradicionales.
Aspecto formal. Que tenga un componente estético relacionado con la identidad cultural regional del Paisaje Agavero y originalidad del diseño.
Innovación tecnológica en el uso sustentable de los materiales reciclados y materiales locales de los cuales se dispone.
Aplicación de criterios de sustentabilidad: que la vivienda responda funcionalmente a las condiciones del entorno físico y a las necesidades socioculturales en el que propone emplazarse y con óptimo aprovechamiento y manejo racional de los recursos naturales.
Función social. Que ofrezca soluciones a una problemática social de vivienda económica que pueda construirse por etapas por parte de la población objetivo.
Claridad y comprensión del proyecto conceptual.

LINEAMIENTOS DEL CONCURSO.

Los interesados en presentar una propuesta para el concurso deberán integrar equipos no mayores a 3 personas, de preferencia multidisciplinarios.
La presentación de la propuesta deberá hacerse en dos láminas de 0.90 cm. x 0.60 cm. (35.43 pulgadas x 23.62 pulgadas) en formato digital con imágenes en una resolución de 300 dpi. Las láminas deberán enviarse en formato .jpg o .png anotando en el asunto del correo: concurso, seguido del código de inscripción y la clave de su equipo. (Ejemplo: CONCURSO123_EQUIPOAGAVE).
La recepción de láminas impresas concluye el día 13 de agosto, por lo que deberán de haber llegado entre el día 6 y a más tardar el 13 a las instalaciones del ITESO Universidad Jesuita de Guadalajara, Dirección: Periférico Sur Manuel Gómez Morín 8585, C.P. 45604 San Pedro Tlaquepaque, Jal. La presentación gráfica de las láminas es libre a diseñar por cada equipo, sin embargo, se recomienda que incluya bocetos, perspectivas o renders que reflejen la consideración del emplazamiento de la propuesta, el uso y aprovechamiento de los materiales reciclables, los sistemas constructivos, las características formales y espaciales, plantas, secciones, fachadas, detalles arquitectónicos, diagramas, etc.
Se debe integrar una memoria descriptiva en formato PDF, no mayor a 5 cuartillas que especifique los criterios de diseño conceptual definiendo los aspectos técnico constructivos de la propuesta y la viabilidad económica y constructiva para la autoconstrucción.
Adicionalmente al envío de las láminas se deberá enviar una ficha en formato PDF indicando el nombre del equipo y el nombre de los integrantes, con domicilio, correo electrónico y número telefónico para su contacto.
El nombre del equipo (p.ej. 123_EQUIPOAGAVE) deberá aparecer en las dos láminas de presentación integrándolo en la parte superior derecha. Es importante no colocar su nombre o nombre de alguna empresa en cualquiera de las láminas de entrega.

CRONOGRAMA DEL CONCURSO

El plazo de inscripción inicia con el lanzamiento de esta convocatoria el día 16 de abril y concluye el 3 de agosto de 2018.
El plazo para recibir los proyectos conceptuales de vivienda social de acuerdo a las especificaciones adjuntas en la convocatoria concluye el 13 de agosto de 2018.
El jurado calificador revisará las propuestas recibidas y el día 24 de agosto de 2018 notificará vía correo electrónico a los ganadores del concurso.

PREMIOS

El equipo ganador del primer lugar será acreedor a 3 computadoras Workstation (Asus laptop ROG de 15.6”, Intel Core i7, Memoria 16GB, unidad de estado sólido 256GB) y una botella conmemorativa y la oportunidad de formar parte del equipo técnico que desarrollará el proyecto ejecutivo de la propuesta ganadora. Para ello se prevé la construcción en escala 1:1 de un primer prototipo del sistema constructivo propuesto, para ser exhibido el día 7 de septiembre de 2018, como parte de las actividades del 2º. Congreso Internacional sobre Sustentabilidad en los Hábitats, en el ITESO.

El segundo lugar recibirá 3 tablets (Ipad 5 Wifi 128 GB 9.7”) y una botella conmemorativa y el tercer lugar recibirá 3 tablets de diseño (Wacom). Todos los equipos que se inscriban recibirán su constancia de participación correspondiente.

The Department of Habitat and Urban Development, the Master’s Degree in Sustainable Projects and Construction, and the Master’s Degree in Sustainable Cities and Public Spaces

THE 2ND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON HABITAT SUSTAINABILITY
Technological Innovation and Social Creativity in the Construction of Resilient Cities.

This international conference is being organized within the framework of ITESO’s 60th anniversary, and will take place from September 5 to 7, 2018. This event is conceived as an opportunity to exchange academic and professional experiences by participating in different specialized activities: presentations, talks, discussion panels, workshops, guided technical visits and exhibits, with people sharing technological innovations and successful scenarios of social creativity that have helped to build resilient cities.

The topics will be divided into two main thematic areas:

TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION: As an essential element for development and its application in the sustainability and resilience of cities. This topic refers mainly to projects and experiences related to the construction of resilient and inclusive cities, such as: technological prototypes, sustainable building materials and systems, technologies and the design of new devices for comprehensive water and waste management, and energy efficiency.

SOCIAL CREATIVITY: The human factor in projects focusing on social creativity as a tool for generating proposals that contribute to urban resilience, for example: public policy proposals, social participation models for territorial management, intervention proposals to promote resilience, new social approaches for providing housing, evaluation of governance experiences, innovative methodologies for the measurement and analysis of the social and environmental impacts of urbanization, as well as experiences of urban landscape intervention and transformation in the context of heritage sites and protected natural areas.

The congress will include the following types of activities.

Keynote speeches by prominent specialists in the field of sustainability, from both Mexico and abroad.
Discussions with specialists, companies and non-governmental organizations.
Workshops run by prominent professionals from the field.

We invite academics, students, innovators, entrepreneurs and decision-makers who are concerned about sustainability to participate in this conference and share their experiences in the following formats:

Structured papers within the two main thematic areas of the conference, in oral face-to-face modality and in poster format.
Presentations by technologists and providers of materials and services related to sustainable habitat construction.

This Conference is aimed primarily at people from the following sectors:

Private sector:

Urbanism professionals who wish to enhance their practice through experiences and the implementation of strategies and techniques that promote sustainability.
Members of the business sector who offer technology or innovative services in the field of habitat sustainability.
Builders, urban developers and technologists who are looking to offer innovative solutions.

Public sector:

Government agencies in charge of managing funding for sustainability-oriented technological and social proposals.
Government officials who are looking for an opportunity to discuss strategies and find creative solutions to achieve better city management.

Social sector:

Civil associations, community organizations, collectives, citizen networks, and national and international organizations with projects in different areas of sustainability and urban resilience.

Academic sector:

Professors, researchers and students from Institutions of Higher Education who are interested in updating their competencies and knowledge and finding allies to implement projects in different areas of sustainability.

SUBMISSION OF PROPOSALS.

Those interested in presenting a paper or poster must submit an abstract in Word format (.docx), not exceeding 350 words, in Arial 11-point font, 2.5 cm margins, and include the following information:

Title and subtitle of the presentation, in boldface capitals, single-spaced, in Arial 14 and 12-point font respectively.
Thematic category for which the abstract is proposed.
Name(s) of the author(s).
Institution (university, company, government agency, civil organization, etc.)
Affiliation (Department, school, area, unit, etc.)
Address, state and city.
Current telephone numbers and e-mail.

Abstracts should relate to the conference’s thematic categories and contain a brief but concise description of the proposed case study: objectives, methodology, content, discussion and conclusions. It must include at the most four key words and be submitted to the following e-mail address: consustentabilidad@iteso.mx

The deadline to submit abstracts is Friday March 9, 2018.

Please include in the e-mail subject: Thematic area, followed by the surnames. Example: CREATIVIDADSOCIAL_FLORESROMERO.

The authors selected for the conference will be notified on Friday, March 23, 2018 of the modality in which they are invited to participate: presentation or poster.

Final papers and posters must be submitted before Friday, May 18, 2018. To be included in the program, the registration fee must be paid in advance.

Final papers must meet the following editorial criteria:

Abstract in English and Spanish edited to 100 words at the most.
Length between 7,000 and 9,000 words, on letter size paper, including charts, photographs and graphics integrated into the text.
The paper must be submitted in Word format.
Title in capital letters, centered, in boldface Arial 14-point font.
After the title: Thematic area, name(s) of the author(s), authors’ home institutions, all aligned on the left-hand margin in Arial 12-point bold font.

Competition sustainable low-income housing 2018

The Jose Cuervo Foundation, in conjunction with the Graduate Programs in Sustainability of ITESO’s Department of Habitat and Urban Development, within the framework of the 2nd International Conference on Habitat Sustainability,

Announces the:

1st international competition for the conceptual project of sustainable low-income housing made with recycled materials from the agave-tequila productive chain and local materials.

National and international habitat specialists and students of architecture, civil engineering and related fields are invited to apply local construction techniques to the design of a sustainable low-income dwelling for local families living in situations of vulnerability in the community of Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico, which forms part of the Agave Landscape, recognized in 2006 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

At present, in this region of the Agave Landscape, an opportunity is being missed to utilize the large amounts of waste material from the agave-tequila productive chain; innovative techniques can repurpose this material for the design and construction of low-income housing, in combination with elements of traditional local architecture. The intention is to foster the exploitation, reuse and recycling of byproducts of the tequila manufacturing process and local materials, such as:

Wood from white oak barrels,
Agave pulp fiber or bagasse,
Glass from used tequila bottles,
Obsidian, a volcanic rock endemic to the region,
Opalo stones,
Earth brick with agave pulp fiber.

To register for the competition, send an e-mail to consustentabilidad@iteso.mx indicating in the body of the message “Solicitud_INSCRIPCION_CONCURSOCUERVO-ITESO”; in this same message, request your participation code and specify the name of the team and the team members’ names, provenance and contact information, including e-mail and telephone number. You will then receive a registration code which must be included as identification on your proposal, together with the team’s name.

Each team that registers will receive its own participation code and an information package containing the specifications of the recycled materials to be utilized as part of the construction system, the specifications of the proposed site of the sustainable low-income housing, and information about norms and regulations that must be met.

The winner will be announced on September 6, 2018, at 8:00 pm in Casa ITESO Clavigero (Calle José Guadalupe Zuno Hernández 2083, Colonia Obrera, 44140 Guadalajara, Jalisco), as part of the 2nd International Conference on Habitat Sustainability.

The award ceremony will include an exhibition of all participating proposals. The jury will be determined by the Organizing Committee of the 2nd International Conference on Habitat Sustainability, in conjunction with the Jose Cuervo Foundation.

Any matter not foreseen in this announcement will be decided by the Organizing Committee of the Competition and its decision will be irrevocable.

OBJECTIVES:

To design a conceptual project of sustainable low-income housing that is attractive, comfortable, safe and compatible with local regulations, reutilizing byproducts from the tequila manufacturing process and local materials, with a special focus on providing housing solutions for marginalized segments of the population of the Agave Landscape region. The proposal must be presented at the conceptual level, and include a definition of the possibility of building in stages, estimates of building costs, and a determination of the feasibility of self-construction.

EVALUATION CRITERIA

The proposals will be evaluated on the basis of the following criteria (not in order of importance).

Functionality. Efficient use of space and specified recycled materials in combination with traditional materials.
Formal aspect. An aesthetic component related to the regional cultural identity of the Agave Landscape, as well as originality of design.
Technological innovation in the sustainable use of available recycled and local materials.
Application of sustainability criteria: the dwelling should adapt functionally to the conditions of the physical surroundings and the sociocultural needs of the local population, and make optimal rational use of natural resources.
Social function. It should offer solutions to the social challenge of providing affordable housing that can be built in stages by the target population.
Clarity and coherence of the conceptual project.

COMPETITION GUIDELINES.

Interested participants must form teams, preferably multidisciplinary, with no more than 3 members.
Proposals must be submitted on two digital posters measuring 0.90 cm x 0.60 cm (35.43 inches x 23.62 inches), with an image resolution of 300 dpi. The posters must be submitted in .jpg or .png format, in an e-mail with a subject line of “CONCURSO” followed by the registration code and team name (Example: CONCURSO123_EQUIPOAGAVE).
The printed posters must arrive in August 13. They must be sent between the 6th and at the longest the 13, 2018 to the campus of ITESO, the Jesuit University of Guadalajara. The graphic design of the posters is up to each team; however, it is recommended to include sketches, perspectives or renderings that reflect a consideration of the proposed siting, the utilization of the recycled materials, the building systems employed, the formal and spatial characteristics, floor plans, cross-sections, façades, architectural details, diagrams, etc.
A descriptive memory should be submitted in PDF format, consisting of no more than 5 pages and specifying the conceptual design criteria, including the proposal’s technical construction aspects as well as the economic and technical feasibility of self-construction.
In addition to the posters, a factsheet in PDF format must be submitted, with the name of the team and team members, and an address, e-mail and telephone number as contact information.
The team’s name (e.g., 123_EQUIPOAGAVE) must appear in the top right-hand corner of the two presentation posters. It is important not to put your name or that of any company on any of the submitted posters.

COMPETITION TIMETABLE

The registration period begins with the launch of this announcement on April 16 and ends on August 3, 2018.
The deadline for receiving the conceptual projects for low-income housing pursuant to the specifications attached to the announcement is August 13, 2018.
The jury will review the proposals received and notify the winners by e-mail on August 24, 2018.

PRIZES

The first-place team will win 3 Workstation computers (Asus ROG 15.6” laptop, Intel Core i7, 16GB of memory, 256GB solid state unit) and a commemorative bottle, plus the opportunity to form part of the technical team that will develop the executive project of the winning proposal. The intention is to build a 1:1 scale prototype of the proposed construction system, to be exhibited on September 7, 2018 as part of the activities of the 2nd International Conference on Habitat Sustainability, at ITESO.

Second place will be awarded 3 tablets (Ipad 5 Wifi 128 GB 9.7”) and a commemorative bottle, while third place will win 3 design tablets (Wacom). All registered teams will receive their corresponding certificate of participation.
